Summary/Abstract: To historians, Gustáv Husák is no mystery. One can precisely describe his role at individual stages of his political career. One can also write about him without emotion: Husák and his era belong to the irretrievable past. Nobody has any open respect for him. He paid for his culpability with his definitive downfall as one of the most objectionable figures in Czech history.
