Summary/Abstract: The paper summarizes the ways of attributing (family) names to women in 16th century. The material used for the study was excerpted from the city archives (the so-called reeves’ books, lists of property changes, orphanhood etc.) of Olomouc city in the period 1511–1565. We have ennumerated the methods of assigning (family) names to women in the selected place and time period. This conlusions are also accompandied with a analysis of social relations in the communty in question.
