Summary/Abstract: Proceeding from an interpretation of Heidegger’s essay "The Origin of the Work of Art" and its parallels with Paul Klee’s "Ways of Studying Nature", the article attempts to establish a phenomenology of (postmodern) architecture in accord with man’s specific being-in-the-world (in-der-Welt-sein) and corporeality as dwelling and the removal of distance. It then touches upon the future architecture in the era of information technology, in which buildings will assume an increasingly “virtual” and transitory character, as the centre is dislocated to the local and becomes manifold. Instead of threatening our Dasein, this recent situation will, in fact, further man’s “telematic existence” and existential openness toward our new world.
