Summary/Abstract: A report from this year's edition of the Wiener Festwochen festival (9.05 - 15.06.2014), mainly devoted to its opera productions. Muskała describesluck's Orpheus and Eurydice as directed by Romeo Castellucci, where the image and the story of a real comatose little girl have been used in a controversial fashion. More conservative, yet emotionally outstanding is Mozart's Cosi fan tutte by Michael Haneke. The author also admires the updated music and staging of Verdi's Macbeth, directed by Brett Bailey (South Africa), which shifts the action into an African context.
