Regional cooperation among the see countries

Summary/Abstract: Since 1989 the issue of regional cooperation among the countries in South-Eastern Europe (SEE) has acquired new dimen-sions. Despite the differences in the development of their econo-mies and political status, the military conflicts, and the certain deg-ree of disintegration among the countries in this region the pursuit of stability and economic prosperity resulted in numerous political and economic initiatives undertaken by them. The paper aims to outline certain aspects of the regional cooperation among the SEE countries and to examine the factors having positive and negative impact on it. Although the emphasis is put on the economic relations among the countries in the region the impact of certain political factors is also taken into account. An attempt was made to weight the importance of the trade agree-ments among the countries and to evaluate the steps towards libe-ralization of trade flows within the framework of the SEE Stability Pact.
