Summary/Abstract: Return of Romania in the European space after removing of the isolationism imposed by the communist period, implies openness to the world of religious life . An important dimension and specific in the Europeanization process it represents in our country case the orthodoxy . Alongside this, however, and the other religions recognized are distinguished by their own religious traditions dowry . Simultaneously with the political and economic effort initiated by the Romanian state in the sense Westernization, it stands thus a renewal effort in the religious life . This means autonomy and separation of church and state , organization and institutionalization of religious life as a civilian activity ( nonpolitical ) religious equal opportunities , recognizing the right of every religious and faithful to manifest freely, in accordance with their religious creed. The presence of our country in the European Union family looming therefore a good opportunity to assess the ability of the Church to meet the challenges and risks . New realities require developing integration strategies and their controlled connection to Western modernity .
