Summary/Abstract: The Corpus of Estonian Emotional Speech is a project launched in 2006 under the state programme Language Technological Support for the Estonian Language. The article introduces the theoretical basis of the Corpus in progress and describes its four stages of development: emotion selection, selection of reading material, reader selection, and perception tests for emotion recognition. The Corpus material will include sentences carrying anger, sadness and joy (as recognized in perception tests) as well as neutral sentences.
