Summary/Abstract: Handling and ordering through observe the population mood. Case study: World University Winter Games in Poiana Stalin (1951, January 28th-February 8th.). Unlike the political regimes in which the public opinion plays an important role, in the totalitarian regimes, mistrust in the virtues of communication between the State and the citizens is a basic trait. This paper presents the reality of Communist Romania in the contest of World University Winter Games in Poiana Brasov, at that time called Poiana Stalin. The official propaganda presented the games as a display of the growing force of “democratic” students within the peace movement. Due to the severe limitations imposed both by Securitate and by the International Students Association, a quasi-Communist organization, the atmosphere was very tense and glacial.
