Summary/Abstract: Within this framework the author points at play elements, as they are explicitly reflected by the theory of economics, focusing on the reflection of classical theory by Adam Smith, neoclassical concept of Homo Oeconomicus, theory of games and economic behavior, institutional theories, as well as the public-choice theory. The aim is to analyze the role of particular play elements (Agon – competition; Alea – chance, fortune; Mimicry – mask, disguise; Ilinx – obsession, vertigo), as a matter of economic behavior, in the context of mentioned concepts of economics.
