Summary/Abstract: After 1989, the Romanian critical discourse enhances two major points of view in coping with the identity issue: on one hand, the revival of such concepts as “national literature”, “national myth”, “Romanian cultural identity”, “Euro-centred Romanian writer” and, on the other, their implacable rejection by focusing on “the complex of identity” which is to emphasize the so-called “inferior/minor/marginal/local” Romanian culture. Within the global Postmodern milieu, the identity voices call for a pattern to select the national values which are to enter the European dialogues
