Summary/Abstract: The research was conducted based on the materials obtained from the interviews with the Azerbaijani that moved to Monchegorsk in the last 5 years. The authors of the article revealed that accommodation, fields of activity, circles of friends, and family status of the interviewed migrants provide for the economic and ethno-social stability. Several years ago, Azerbaijani migrants were oriented toward potential departure from the polar region to more attractive areas of the country or their ethnic homeland. Today this small northern city is turning into a more attractive territory than metropolis due to the city’s ability to provide high quality education for children
