Summary/Abstract: Evaluation of people with special needs relies on complex medical, psychological, educational and social knowledge, including all the problems they are faced with in the ordinary living environment. We should highlight the fact that, in the vast majority of cases, evaluation is an ongoing process, not an instantaneous radiography of the subject’s condition, which requires a prolonged, differentiated collaboration between the members of the team of evaluators and the person with special needs. Also, evaluation as an indispensable process in the structure of the services for disabled people is based on a number of important elements, frequently invoked in the recent literature: a certain philosophy of evaluation, coherence and unitary design of the content of evaluation, modern and flexible legislation in the field of social services.
