Summary/Abstract: This paper treats the problem of the God-man in the work of F. M. Dostoevsky. It is focused on the novel The Brothers Karamazov which is interpreted in the light of modern research and attempts at the possibility of finding common values in the contemporary world. The problem is shown in the light of the research of authors such as Jacques Derrida, Jurgen Habermas and Joseph Ratzinger. The central thesis of the paper is that the moral values to be built in today’s secularized world should be current and valid not only for the European humanity and the European mind but for all the rest of the nations as well. The text interprets mainly the chapter „The Grand Inquisitor“ from Dostoevsky’s novel and simultaneously traces the fate of the god-man today.
