Summary/Abstract: The article considers the difference between Losev and Cassirer in relation to the question for the nature of the symbol, the myth and its historical meaning. Difference descended on the basis of the conceptions for symbol by both philosophers. The true symbolism by Cassirer found by the coincidence of receptivity and spontaneous realized in the art, immanently of the consciousness. By Losev the symbol is identity of the act of denotation and its object, expressed fullest into the myth. And both think the myth like a indifference between imagery and actually, but in Cassirer`s standpoint he is a form of thinking, and in Losev`s point of view he is strength recreated by means of its expressiveness the reality. In this way in Cassirer the myth as an immediately given is mostly historical stage, and in Losev the myth is immediately given in the present, what is more, he is texture of the history. Also the paper considered the contribution of Losev to a phenomenology of mythical consciousness.
