Summary/Abstract: In the period from 1945 to 1950, the communist rule in Montenegro accomplished to engage almost all Montenegrin intellectuals in realization of its ideological aims. The most prominent and most affirmed scholars and artists participated in the promotion of the socialist ideology, and sustained the communist rule in all its endeavours. They participated in the process as famous authors and as officials of the system. They were members of the Communist party mostly and employed in cultural, scientific and educational institutions that were formed and controlled by the communist rule. Some of the most influential intellectuals were members of the most important communist party apparatus as well as the republic’s organization. They were in charge of the institutions of culture, science and education. They were editors in papers and journals, involved not only in promotion, but also in creation of the ruling ideology. The intellectuals promoted the ruling ideology by using different means: papers, journals, books, studies, art work and participation in mass meetings. In that way they contributed greatly to the formation and popularization of the communist rule, and represented an important part of the ruling system.
