Summary/Abstract: In presented study it was shown that the estimated height of the rulers might be infl uenced by their ‘historical greatness’. In Study I (N=63) the successes achieved by Baure (Egyptian ruler about 4500 years ago) were manipulated and difference of 10 cm was obtained between the assessments of ‘skilful’ and ‘incompetent’ ruler. In Study II (N=153) the estimated height of the most respectful and the worst Polish kings were compared. In the raters’ assessment, ‘great’ Polish kings were taller than the worst. Results suggest, that powerful people are perceived as taller than in reality, but only when their rules are assessed positively.
