Fisher's materials on the Udmurt language: linguistic description

Summary/Abstract: In this article the graphic, spelling and dialect analysis of J. E. Fisher's Udmurt language material is presented. On the basis of research carried out by the author it is found that: 1) for written transfer of the Udmurt words the scientist used latin graphics and elements of German spelling systems; 2) F.J.Fisher recorded phonetic phenomena, characteristic for different dialects of the Udmurt language.
