Summary/Abstract: The text deals with amulti-media project by Peter Gre- enaway, whose core is composed of the Tulse Luper Su- itcases trilogy. The presentation takes place within the context of amanifesto proclaimed by Greenaway in Milan on 28 August 2003 announcing „the death of the cinema”. Afurther part of the text ponders on the meaning of the victory of death for the Greenaway pro- ject, situating the latter amidst the director’s earlier films and works by contemporary artists, in particular Christian Boltanski and Ydessa Hendeles. The project proposed by Greenaway becomes avoice in the current debates conducted in the world of the arts, focused on the presentability, or not, of death, the meaning of its imagery and, finally, the condition of the image itself.
