The Seen Eye

Summary/Abstract: A text on the motif of the eye in the oeuvre of Geor- ges Bataille, Maurice Blanchot and Michel Leiris. With an image of Batailles’ eyes as his point of depar- ture, the author recalls the part played by the obse- rved eye in the conception of the contemporary sub- ject. Further on, he outlines the contact of the eye and the dark night in works by Blanchot and Leiris.
