The aim of the article is to define the priorities in the process of updating the classification of occupations in the field of marketing. The factors that require such an update are the following: (i) the development of marketing both from a conceptual and an operational perspective; (ii) the need to harmonize the classification applied in Romania with the most advanced in the field of marketing; (iii) the need to ensure the appropriate correspondence between the regulations on the classification of the marketing occupations and the actual occupations existing in the organizational charts of the companies that are present on the Romanian market.
