Summary/Abstract: In the first part of this article the model of cultural data production in France is presented, a country which has many correspondences and similarities with Romania. In the second part, we discuss the production of cultural data in post-communist Romania. We identify the main researches that provided cultural data, we expose the methodology and goals, and reconstruct the dynamics of cultural data production; as a result, we have identified two different generations of research.
