Summary/Abstract: The project of the ethnocratic state (1937), as conceived by the theologian, philosopher, writer and journalist Nichifor Crainic (1889-1972), one of the promoters of the extreme right ideology during the inter-war period, is a retort to the state of things that was consecrated by the Constitution adopted in 1923 by the Parliament of the united Romania ("Greater Romania"). This programme with aggressive-democratic features aimed at synchronising the Romanian stale with the German Nazism and Italian fascism (although this is not always apparent), opposing the Christian Orthodox note to the former and anti-Semitism (economic, but also racist) to the latter.
