Summary/Abstract: The author attempts to formulate a programme for a cognitive poetics not strictly contained within the limits of ‘poetics in terms of linguistics’ as proposed by structuralism. His critical reading of Peter Stockwell’s textbook results in a different view on a combination of cognitivism and poetics: the emphasis is put not on a product but on the process of production, in which the role of the author is taken into consideration; it is a concept of genre theory based on a theory of prototypes; Roman Ingarden’s concretisation theory is complemented with cognitive tools; cognitive rhetoric is discussed, as well as the broader question of combination of cognitive literary studies with cognitive and social psychology.
