Summary/Abstract: In the article it is discussed the evolution of negation in romanic languages. Compound verbal negation is a peculiarity of the French language and the norm of literary language. Verbal negation differs greatly in French, Spanish and Italian languages. In French language it makes up a framal construction ne…pas, where as in Spanish and Italian languages it is typical for the negation to be simple.
