Summary/Abstract: Schela Cladovei is the only Romanian Mesolithic-Neolithic site in the Iron Gates that was not covered by the Danube waters following the building of the Iron Gates I and II dams. Its archaeological importance just can’t be stressed enough. But like most of the sites in the area, the information published following the archaeological excavations was scarce and patchy. The present paper aims to present a long due field report on the 1965-1968 excavations at Schela Cladovei, with a stress on the funerary activity on the site. This attempt is but a first step in the long process of bringing to light the results of the earlier excavations in the Iron Gates area.
