Summary/Abstract: Approximately six years ago, the Balkan Human Rights Network (BHRN) arose as a joint effort of multiple human rights organizations to increase cooperation, secure their position in the Balkan region and gain solid ground for their main cause: establishment of stable and democratic societies in the Balkans. From the start, efficiency and effectiveness were the unwritten norm within this organization. Six years later, these aspects are more than that: they have become a necessity without which organization can no longer function. This is due in part to the rapid growth of organization's activities and responsibilities, but more so, it is due to the rapid decrease in the available funds. In general, it could be said that the process of donor withdrawal (known as the donor fatigue) from the Balkan region has gone parallel with increasing demand for professionalization of the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).
