Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to investigate the contribution of songs to students’ language learning in foreign language classes. This research is a qualitative study conducted with 19 students of the Department of Foreign Language Education (French Language Teaching Program) of the Faculty of Education at Anadolu University. Their language level is B1 according to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Data are collected from students who wrote a reflective diary at the end of each course for 12 weeks. Before the application, the students are asked to write their diaries sincerely and honestly. Data are analized using the method of document analysis. Also, frequency and percentage analysis are used to obtain numerical data. According to the findings with the use of songs, students pronounced words correctly, they have increased lexical knowledge. Additionaly, they are motivated and they developed their listening skills, their participation rate increased and they developed a positive attitude towards the course. This study reveals that the songs make the language courses enjoyable, the students learn about the culture of the language they are learning and develop positive attitudes towards foreign language. The songs provide a more permanent learning. And finally, this research shows that with the use of songs in the classroom, students learn language which is used in daily life and develop their memorization skills.
