Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to highlight the importance of the fact that Serbia is situated in the center of the Balkans, which allows it to become a kind of cultural leader in the region. Rather than being reduced to an importer of culture from great Euro-Atlantic empires, like its neighbors, Serbia should make full use of its potentials as quickly as possible - its location, cognate languages, religion, tradition and history similar to those of other states in the region and, by making a series of carefully planned moves, it should also gain the upper hand in the new race once and for all. As matters now stand, Serbia’s best and most promising brand is Belgrade, primarily because of its location and political importance. However, Belgrade lacks a creative visionary spirit to seize a great opportunity at hand - it has to cast its light all over Serbia by its rich and versatile cultural offer and boundless energy.
