Transfer English form of the past tense in Polish and Russian (on the material of translation of the novel J. R. R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit")

Summary/Abstract: The article is focused on the analysis of the past tense examples taken from "The Hobbit" by J.R.R.Tolkien in English and their translations into Russian (В.А.М) and Polish (Skibniewska M. and A. Polkowski). The aim of the analysis was to demonstrate differences in the way of translating selected lexical units, and to draw attention to the consequence of individual translations and to the impact of the construction of translation on the public reception.
