Summary/Abstract: It is well known that during childhood a person is protected by his parents, his relatives and the security of the self will be marked by familiar elements. When they become preadolescents and the desire of knowing and conquering the world become significant, the persons will have to make different decisions and in this process the personal safety will acquire some differential criteria, the process being marked by the gender type. Therefore we have engaged in a psychological research aimed at revealing the features of personal safety in preadolescents. We conducted our research on 40 preadolescents from urban environment and 41 preadolescents from rural environment. As methods of research, we have used the personal safety questionnaire and non-directive interview created for Romanian preadolescents. The collected data have allowed us to see a different way in which the personal safety is structured in preadolescent girls from rural and urban environments.
