Summary/Abstract: The last decade and a half was marked by the appearance of several Romanian directors with new perspectives on the cinema, who brought again the name of the country in the attention of the worldwide cinematography. The characteristics of The Romanian New Wave are braveness, freshness, minimalism and social stories, emphasizing the emotions, feelings, life stories and themes from the Romanian reality, both capitalist and communist. The important number of international nominations and awards from the last years are the real proof of the new beginning of the cinema that Romania was waiting for. The New Wave includes both feature and short movies that have been on the big screen starting from 2000.
