Clientele in the vortex of the reformation. Researching the Biography of the Nobleman Skashevskis

Summary/Abstract: A biographic research of the Polish nobleman Stanislovas Skashevskis (died in 1579), who emigrated to Samogitia at the beginning of the 16th century, allows to state partly the influence of clientele relationship to the whole reformation process in Samogitia. The nobleman’s clientele relations with four influential patrons of the GDL (S.Kęsgaila, J.Chodkevichius, M.Radvila, K.Radvila) and also with dukes of Prussia become apparent. However, the information about the content of religious clientele relationship is not abundant. This research is important not only as a biographic research but also as one that adds some information to the reformation process in Samogitia.
