Income of typical dairy farms in the European Union in 2011

Summary/Abstract: The research was conducted on a group of typical dairy farms in the European Union, using data from 2011. It shows that the majority of farms achieved a positive net income from dairy cattle breeding. Half of the analyzed farms covered the full costs of dairy production using extra payments which were not connected with this production. The results show that out of 28 surveyed farms only 5 were able to cover the full cost of dairy farming without the support of extra payments and the farm made profit from the milk production.
