Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to provide a general background on the political and socio-economic situation of Moldova. Just recently (April 2014) the visa-free regime for Moldovan citizens was introduced, and the signing of EU-Moldova Associaton Agreement is expected in June. The author discusses current political situation (political scene, foreign policy, separatist regions), condition of the economy, energy security challenges and main social problems in Moldova.
