Summary/Abstract: Formative evaluation is a form of assessment intended to give students feedback on their learning progress and to give the teacher an indication of what students have mastered and areas of difficulty. The use of feedback is important to both teachers and students. Teachers use feedback to make programmatic decisions with respect to readiness, diagnosis and remediation. Students use it to monitor the strengths and weaknesses of their performances, so that aspects associated with success or high quality can be recognized and reinforced and unsatisfactory aspects modified or improved. This study was designed to examine the fifth grade primary school students' empowerment through the use of formative evaluation.
