European territorial cooperation as an instrument of EU regional policy in 2007-2013

Summary/Abstract: The article aims to indicate the position of the European territorial cooperation within the main objectives of the UE regional policy, which provides the background to identify efficient instruments eliminating socio-economic differences among member states and as a result among regions as well. In 2007-2013 Poland received € 67.3 billion from the European Community budget for activities related to the regional policy – the largest share of all EU member states. This amount has also been allocated for cross-border cooperation programmes, whose main objective is to correct the development disparities in the border areas within the Community.
