History of Social Work and Education of Social Workers in B&H

Summary/Abstract: This article gives comparative analysis of development of social work, as social activity, and education of social workers in B&H, as inseparable part of professional approach in the practice. Connection between education for social work in Higher School for Social Workers in Sarajevo in 1958. and opening of first Centers for Social work in B&H in 1961. is discussed in the first part of this article. Second part discusses three periods: 1985-1991; 1992-1995 and from 1996 till today. This part explains main highlights of education for social workers (fouryears studies at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo) and practical aspects of this help-providin profession (social work dring four-years war and after the war in B&H).
