Summary/Abstract: Contemporary multicultural discourse abstracts the reality of democracy by deducing the notion of multiculturalism from its own substance, and vice versa, the reality of democracy is often considered independent from the concept of multiculturalism or culture. There is thesis in the text that multiculturalism assumes democracy and that it is a result of specific social relations that could be named as democratic ones. On the other hand, democracy is the political culture, critic, and the negation of political anti-culture, or no culture in general. Totalitarianism and ethno-nationalism are the main obstacles for democracy and multiculturalism. The author concludes that multiculturalism must be defended and that it cannot be defended without democracy. Also, democracy must be defended and it cannot be defended without culture and multiculturalism.
