Summary/Abstract: Energy is of particular importance for a whole range of human activities, and has a direct impact on the material situation of the population. Energy consumption is rising steadily, for the most part involving fossil fuels, of which the reserves are not unlimited. The distribution of fossil fuel reserves does not match consumption, and the interdependence between the major energy-consuming countries and those where the greatest reserves are located is becoming more and more significant. The impact of energy on the environment is no longer a problem only for the countries where environmental pollution arises. All this contributes to the global nature of energy and to the globalization of the energy industry.
