Summary/Abstract: National Innovation System is defined as a set of institutions which jointly and individually contribute to the development and diffusion of new technologies and which provide the framework within which governments form and implement policies to influence the innovation process. The study of NIS directs attention on linkages of interaction. There are four models of NIS. The aim of the study is to identify the determinants of NIS. The article concentrates on problems and interactions between models of NIS and the innovativeness of European countries based on Innovation Union Scoreboard 2010. The most innovative countries in Europe (Finland, Sweden, Denmark) represent social-democratic model of National Innovation System. This model builds the podium of European innovativeness.
