Summary/Abstract: The Šeranić house in Ilidža mahala in Gornji Šeher near Banja Luka was built in the late 18th century. No investigative or conservation and restoration works had ever been carried out on the house. Before the works began, the Šeranić house was in very poor structural condition, and was at risk of falling into ruin. The decision designating the property as a national monument provided for two stages of works on the house, the first consisting of emergency protection measures, and the second conservation and restoration works. This paper reviews the project carried out by the Commission to Preserve National Monuments in 2008,funded by the US Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation. The 2008 project consisted of drawing up a plan for emergency structural repairs and carrying out emergency structural repair works.
