Summary/Abstract: The Middle East has not been on the priority list of Slovakia’s foreign policy. However, its importance from a regional and global standpoint has made it necessary for Slovakia to deal with it. From the beginning of 2000, attempts to adopt a competent strategic and tactical stance and approach to this region and define basic plans, goals and foreign policy instruments as well as relations have been witnessed. All these measures have had to reflect, on the one hand, the specific national interests and needs of Slovakia and, on the other, to comply with the requirements and objectives associated with the process of Euro-Atlantic integration and fullfledged membership in the EU and NATO.
