PRIVATIZATION AS FORM OF PROPERTY TRANSFORMATION: PROBLEMS OF PRIVATE PROPERTY FORMATION IN RUSSIA

Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the problem of theoretical conceptualization of the property relations’ transformation during economic reforms in Russia in the early 90s of the XX century. Property is an interdisciplinary category. It can be considered from both philosophical and economic point of view. As a philosophical category, the concept of property represents unity of internal and external sides. The analysis of the process of property relations’ transformation in the 90s of the XX century was carried out. The purpose of this analysis was to study institutional conditions accompanying market reform. It was found out that institutional unpreparedness for implementation of massive privatization became a reason of unfair property distribution. It led to consolidation of the most favorable assets in the hands of a small group – oligarchs. Moreover, the society was not ready to accept a phenomenon of private property and to provide steady reproduction of the property relations, which in turn became the reason of inadequate perception of the essence of property relations.
