Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to competence required from personnel and payroll specialist candidates. It also presents research results on work announcements for those specialists. The author, analyzing advertisements in most popular newspapers and in the Internet, tried to find the most popular supplies for potential personnel and payroll specialist. Presented research includes newspaper announcements from 2007 and actual announcements from the biggest and well-known Internet portals from March 2012. The aim of this paper is to define labour market needs in reference to personnel and payroll specialists. It also shows what (which competence and practical skills) should students who are interested in working as personnel and payroll specialist and teachers at the universities who teach HR management concentrate.
