Summary/Abstract: The 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks on the USA should not have been the occasion for the world to find itself in the most profound precariousness of its entire history. A victim has the right to defend itself, but not to transmogrify itself into an avenger or even criminal. The terrorist spectacle perpetrated against the USA properly suggests an anti-terrorist, but not a militarist and Islamophobic response. Never in the history of mankind has there been so great an armed super-power as the USA today. Never before has a single state been able to conduct a military and political invasion anywhere in the world without having to be held accountable. Setting such massive force in motion under the banner of Islamophobic militarism should be seen as a danger to world peace and to a sustainable world order.
