Summary/Abstract: When talking about cognition and love, Sufi scholars always pay attention to the impassioned soul, a soul that has a tendency towards evil( ammaretu bis-sui), that according to them drives a soul away from the closeness of God and leads towards distortion of the soul itself. We cannot even start a journey unless we do all to get rid of all those aspects of the soul that are contrary to its original substantiality and purity. Therefore one cannot easily comprehend Sufi elaborations about stations and conditions (makamat we ahval), that besides having ontological and gnoseological contents, also have their impact on lives and thought not only of Sufis but of the ethicists as well. Therefore, we may say that ethics is not something other than ontology or metaphysics in its broader sense.
