Summary/Abstract: Karlotta is the name of a little girl shown in a red dress, dancing. Santeri Tuori showed her both in black-and-white photographs, and on video. The pictures were exhibited in SPHN Gallery in Berlin. The artist considers black-andwhite photographs as traditional medium. He believes, however, that color elements add more contemporary context to his pictures. His other photographic installations are entitled ‘Posing Time’, and ‘Blind City’. In his ‘Blind City’, he documented how a blind person moves about his environment. In his work, the artist searches for identity. Other artists from Finland show rather melancholic pictures, which refer to isolation and loneliness. Tuori tries to be more optimistic. He wants to contribute to building solid basis for contemporary photographic portraiture.
