Summary/Abstract: This study has uniquely established that financing women though Self Help Groups has a significant role in empowering women, which is a smart economics indeed in achieving the objective of economic development of the weaker sections. The findings of this study establish using the statistical technique and robust sample size that women financing through groups has significant impacts on the food security as well as non-food expenses of the poor families. The study has evidenced significant outreach of impact of women financing in terms of physical as well as qualitative factors on the socially weaker sections of the society such as Women, Scheduled Castes /Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes category of the poor.
