Summary/Abstract: Most frequently discussion of Czechoslovakia in the 1980s in today’s media and in historical discourse focuses on the grey streets, the emptiness of political slogans, the shortage of goods and the apathy of a society immobilised by the comatose political governance of the Communist Party. However, it is also possible to find phenomena against the backdrop of so-called normalising socialist rule that disrupt that picture of a country withering internally. One of the most visible cases is that of Agrokombinát (Agro-Combine) Slušovice, the most progressive agricultural cooperative of the socialist era. It is not surprising, therefore, that the Slušovice phenomenon inspired the dramaturgy of state film production.
