Summary/Abstract: This work elaborates the position of women on Croatian and European labor markets. A special attention is drawn to the position of women in employment and unemployment fields, and the position of women on regional labor markets in Croatia. Although in general there have been many positive changes in position of women on the labor market on the long run, many indicators show that it is still much worse than the position of men: the rate of economic activity and employment of women is considerably lower, the rate of employment is higher, women on the average wait longer for employment, the concentration of women in so-called typically women's professions is still remarkably high, etc. Such a situation calls for evaluation of possibilities for widening and opening the space for women's more flexible employment, since they still have to balance their household obligation with their work. Some non-standard forms of employment are becoming more apparent, but not all of them are equally desirable. The advantage of non-standard employment is the possibility for women's employment outside of traditional standard models. On the other side, the safety of employment and wages is lower here, which brings the risk of marginalization on the labor market that should definitely not be overlooked.
